ON DESIGN IDENTITY PACKAGE
DESIGNED BY JOHN MAEDA
The "O" symbolizes "Old", the "N" symbolizes "New". Together they make "ON", lending an alternative meaning of being powered "ON". In the texture of 'O's and 'N's, the separate nature of the two letter symbols is maintained, while grouping them together with red as "ON" brings the other symbol into play.
NAMECARD

The namecard and it's backdrop of 'O's and 'N's signals to the recipient that ON DESIGN is not your average design company. ON DESIGN is interested in many little ideas, both old and new, and integrating them into a quality product. The telephone and fax are always "lit" as "ON" to invite the recipient to contact ON DESIGN by telephone or fax.
ENVELOPE (naga-3)

The little cyclone is supposed to catch the recipient's eye and get them excited to open the envelope! The lit telephone/fax reminds them to call.
A4 LETTER

The row of 'O's and 'N's at the edge help the reader to flow down the page while reading the latest communication from ON DESIGN. The noisy pattern of the envelope is replaced with the soothing calm of a regularly spaced, stream of Os and Ns.
ON CORPORATE COLORS ARE

ORANGE-RED is for "LIGHT" and "ON". Gray is used to offset the strength of the orange-red.
TYPEFACES USED ARE

ON is about "NEW" and "OLD". It is only befitting that its typeface be an updated version of a classic.
